Pure organic, fresh and raw Peruvian Mapacho cut from the masos roll. The outside layer of the roll will likely still have residue from the stripped bark that the masos was wrapped in.

Discover the essence of traditional Peruvian heritage with our Premium Mapacho Maso. Crafted from the finest Rustica leaves, our Mapacho Maso is a testament to the ancient techniques of Grandfather fermentation. Each maso is meticulously hand-rolled, binding the leaves into a dense, aromatic bundle that hails directly from the lush landscapes of Peru. This product encapsulates the essence of this jungle mapacho, prepared following a time-honored recipe that has been passed down through generations.

Mapacho has been revered by the indigenous communities of the Amazon for centuries, finding its place at the heart of various cultural practices—from forecasting weather to enhancing fishing rituals, meditation, and in sacred ceremonies aimed at spiritual awakening. Esteemed for its purifying qualities, Mapacho is employed similarly to sage for smudging, aimed at cleansing spaces of negative energies and spirits, embodying the belief that malevolent forces cannot dwell in its presence.

Upon acquisition, our Mapacho Maso maintains its prime condition for several months when stored vacuum-sealed in a refrigerator or freezer. Once opened, it should be carefully unwrapped and preserved in paper, away from direct sunlight to retain its moisture and freshness. Should the outer layer dry out, a simple mist of distilled water revitalizes the leaves, making them pliable and fresh once more. For optimal humidity, encase the moist Rustica in a plastic bag briefly, for no more than two days, before transitioning it back to a dry paper wrap.

It's crucial to avoid storing the Mapacho Maso in non-vacuum-sealed plastic bags at room temperature, as this environment is conducive to mold growth. Paper storage under cool conditions is recommended to preserve the integrity and essence of this sacred, traditional product.

Arapiraca Grandfather Herb, from the Nicotiana Rustica strain, is named after its origin in Arapiraca, a city in northeast Brazil's Alagoas state. Known as capital for Brazilian Rustica; Arapiraca transitioned from cultivating cereals and cassava to Grandfather Herb at the end of the nineteenth century, developing a thriving culture over the next 50 years.

The production of rope Grandfather Herb is a meticulous craft, requiring experience and skill. After harvesting, the leaves are sorted by quality and dried in the shade. The central leaf grain is then removed from the partly dried leaves, which are interlaced and twisted into ropes. These ropes undergo a slow fermentation process while ripening on vertical racks, enhancing the essence and resulting in a final dark brown appearance. The entire process, from harvesting to maturation, exemplifies traditional craftsmanship, producing high-quality Grandfather Herb for Hapé makers.

Raw is in raw rope form and sliced into small pucks.

Prepped is finely shredded and dried for the perfect incense offering.

This traditional process enhances the essence and results in the characteristic dark brown color. Sabia is valued for its exceptional quality and potency.
