The first people recorded in history to utilize the cacao beans to make a chocolate drink were in Mesoamerica where the Cacao Tree grows abundantly.  The Mayans and the Aztec were known to utilize it as a form of currency in market transactions. Indigenous healers in Mayan and Aztec communities would use it to enhance their spiritual journeying, this tradition of using Cacao in ceremony is still prevalent in Western Guatemala and is expanding to various communities throughout the world.
