    Introduction

As our Katukina.US community continues to expand, one of the greatest joys of this work is featuring the real stories and voices behind our extended family.

In this next installment of our Affiliate Spotlight Series, we are sitting down with someone who has become an integral part of our team and journey: Johan Danno.

Long before Johan joined forces with our marketing team last year through Soulpreneur Alchemy, our paths crossed naturally at various events and gatherings. We hit it off right away over shared alignment, deep conversations, and a mutual reverence for sacred plant traditions.

Beyond his strategic mind in the agency world, Johan is a gifted singer, songwriter, and conscious creator who approaches life and plant medicina with grounded humility.

In this feature, we dive into Johan’s personal approach to intentional ritual, his relationship with Hapé (Learn What Is Hapé, How Often To Use Hapé, and Benefits of Hapé), and his perspective on navigating both shadow and light while stepping out of ego and into authentic community stewardship.Katukina.US Affiliate Spotlight Series: Johan Danno

    Sharing Your Practice

    Discover My Ritual:

How do Katukina.us's offerings support your personal rituals or the space you hold for others? What is an example?

I first met Jared, the founder of Katukina.US, at the Fireflies Festival in Homestead. At the time, I was undergoing profound personal work with plant medicines and had been working with Hapé since around 2016, following time spent sitting with Haru and the Kuntanawa tribe.

While I had served and sourced medicine across the world (including during my time in Australia) my experience sitting with Jared and receiving their medicina and Hapé was unlike anything else. It was deeply grounding, vibrant, and pure.

Ever since my first order, Jared has made me feel like part of the Katukina.US family through his generosity and thoughtful gifts. For the past two years, Katukina.US has been my exclusive source. In my daily life, running a music and marketing business can easily get me stuck in my head or my emotions, so I turn to breathwork and Hapé to ground myself and return to center.

It is also my go-to for grounding others after a journey, or perhaps to escape the monkey mind and return to the moment and nature.

I even brought Katukina.US’s hapé medicina to Burning Man, where I had the privilege of serving it to a handful of people, many for their very first time. Providing them the space to honor and connect to the land, themselves, and ancestors is always such a magical experience.

    The Featured Medicine

If you could recommend just one product from our collection to a fellow practitioner, which would it be — and why?

Because everything in their store is unique, handmade, and crafted with clear intention, it’s hard to pick just one. It truly comes down to whichever plant technology is calling to you in the moment. I personally love specific Hapé blends like Veia de Pajé (Vein of the Shaman) and Jarina (Invisibility Cloak).

However, if I had to highlight one product that has deeply impacted my life and practice, it would be the Chilquage (Aztec Gold Root) tincture. I use a spray almost every morning for my health, and it’s like a party in your mouth!

Jared sent it to me when I was sick in January,  and since using it regularly, it helps me in multiple ways. As an antiseptic and immune support, it cleared my throat, helped me regain my vocal strength as a musician, and helped me heal from black mold poisoning. I’ve even gifted it to a veteran friend struggling with throat gland issues to try, and it made a monumental difference for him.

Ultimately, these ethnobotanicals are living plant technologies designed to help us live a fuller, healthier life. Every practitioner should trust their intuition and listen to which offering from the collection speaks to them first.

    Why Katukina.US

What makes Katukina.us your trusted source for these medicines or tools?

What sets Katukina.US apart is that it doesn't feel like a business transaction; it feels like a family. From day one, Jared’s generosity and spirit of reciprocity made a lasting impression on me. You see it through his thoughtful sample gifts, personal check-ins, and the care put into every order.

Beyond that personal connection, I deeply admire how Katukina.US builds a global network that brings conscious people together. They hold space with genuine respect and appreciation for traditional wisdom keepers, walking in sacred reciprocity with the tribes and directly supporting the communities that preserve these plant technologies.

One of the things I love about working with Katukina.US is being able to learn the rich history behind each tribe, community, and offering. To be able to help share their story, as much I help define mine by being in service to a group and community I believe in.

We were supporters for each other, long before even considering working together. Spending time with Jared and the team relaxing in their intentional chill spaces at gatherings like Zen Awakening, you can this warmth of family that makes you feel at home. They aren't just distributing medicina. They are nurturing a living, respectful bridge between traditions and our modern world.

    Integrity & Responsibility

What does ethical, intentional use of plant medicine mean in your work?

Having sat in ceremony with lineage holders from South America to Australia and Hawaii, the greatest lesson I have learned is to claim no title. If someone calls themselves a shaman, I usually walk the other way. As Ram Dass wisely said, don't worship the door, walk through the door. It is so easy to fall into the trap of attaching your ego to the identity of a medicina man or woman. In reality, we are all just new sprouts on old vines.

True integrity starts with walking as a humble, curious student of life. A dear sister once reminded me that this world was not gifted to us by our ancestors; it is borrowed from our grandchildren. In Australia, the Aboriginal people teach that we do not own the land; we are its custodians and shepherds. When we take the time to learn the true history and geography behind these plant technologies, we bring genuine depth and respect to everything we do.

Right now, there is a real opportunity for us to step up as responsible keepers of these traditions. Medicina carries the energy of how it is handled, and people can feel when ego or lower vibrations are attached to it. That is why I align with Katukina.US. They stand for quality assurance, pure intention, and proper care. In an age dominated by AI, coming back to nature is how we return to ourselves, and doing so with love and respect helps us build a more loving, responsible relationship with our own inner world.

We are living in a world starved for connection because people are searching outside themselves for what can only be found within. Much of our suffering comes from the language of 'I', as in I want, I need, I lack. Real power comes when we shift to 'we' and step into true stewardship. Spider-Man’s uncle had it right, just reversed: it is not just that with great power comes great responsibility, but with great responsibility comes true power. When you carry that responsibility, you earn the trust, love, and belief of the community so we can all rise together.

    Community & Mission

What are you currently building, protecting, or devoted to that you'd love our community to know about?

There are a number of inspiring and incredible people I am blessed to call family, who we are currently discussing and figuring out an ambitious plan would see us creating content, music, hosting workshops and retreats around the world. I have a couple major projects and initiatives that I am currently working on and toward that include music and mental health, conscious relationships, the environment, and conservation efforts.

I am truly ecstatic after 2 years of work on it, I am on the final edits of my playbook on conscious relationships "The Freedom of Us: Awaken to The Loveolution," that I am at the final step for print and digital release in August 2026.

I also have been working on a new EP and some singles that are about to be released with my music, along with live shows in discussions for South Florida, from intimate house concerts, to festivals with a full-band performing.

I have a BIG community in Australia that I consider family that I miss and think about all the time. They were there for me when I first started my music career, and helped me evolve as a man. For protecting and community, I have this dream and aspiration to bring a bunch of epic creatives and people from the USA to Australia to travel down under and collaborate, to experience it and collaborate with the local people, then we bring them back to Florida and keep the momentum going globally.

During COVID during lockdowns when we had to social distance, I went on a 2 month outback adventure with my dear friends and brothers Jay and Brett and friends. We drove in Jay's Nissan Patrol with our friends, Caleb who is a bush mechanic and his partner Amy a zoologist, with their father and dog sleeping in nature and days away from civilization.

Those experiences and the 10 years I spent in Australia, got the red dirt under my nails. So I am wanting to return and give back to the land that gave me so much.

People always being connected to nature and going out to truly experience all the wonders she has to offer, is something I plan to share more of the natural world in the digital age. That way, I am one more drop helping the human ocean of consciousness keep connection with what's most important - the very essence that makes us humans and beings alive. Nature nurtures. If we remember to cherish and share why we love it with current and future generations to come, we can preserve our roots, traditions, and what we love... instead of regretting it's absence once it's gone.
