Rare Old-Growth Sacred Wood from the Piura Region
We are honored to offer a truly exceptional old-stock Peruvian Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens) - a rare find that is becoming increasingly difficult to source.
This Palo Santo comes from a small farm in the Piura region of Peru and was sustainably harvested more than 25 years ago, long before the species received protected status and modern harvesting regulations were introduced. Stored for decades, this aged wood represents a piece of Palo Santo history.
Why Old-Growth Palo Santo Matters
Palo Santo is an exceptionally slow-growing tree. The finest aromatic wood develops after many years, as natural resins and essential oils gradually concentrate within the heartwood.
Unlike much of the Palo Santo available today, which often comes from much younger trees, this old-growth wood comes from trees estimated to have matured for 15 years or more before being sustainably harvested. Its rich, dark color is a hallmark of mature heartwood, prized for its depth of aroma and naturally high resin content.
