Often the piece you receive will have slight differences from the kuripes pictured; including the natural materials, adornments/decorations and hand fashioned clay work design. What is a Kuripé and how does it work? ▼
A Kuripé is a small, V-shaped blowpipe used specifically for the self-administration of Hapé powder (grandfather ethnobotanical powder mixed with a different combination of other sacred plant specimens). The unique, sacred geometry of the V-shape connects your mouth directly to your nostril.
By placing one end of the pipe in your mouth and the other in your nostril, you use your own breath (representing Prana, or life-force energy) to blow the powder into your nasal passages. This allows you to control the force, volume, and timing of the application, making it the ideal tool for personal, daily, or solitary ceremonial practices.
What is the difference between a Kuripé and a Tepi? ▼
While both are sacred instruments used to administer Hapé, they serve entirely different ceremonial roles:
- Kuripé (Self-Applicator): A compact, V-shaped pipe designed for self-use. It is highly personal and represents self-reliance, self-healing, and direct connection to the medicine.
- Tepi (Shared Applicator): A much longer, straight or curved pipe used by a practitioner to blow Hapé into another person's nostrils. The Tepi represents a sacred energetic exchange, trust, and transmission between the giver and the receiver.

- Clear Excess Powder: After every use, gently tap the pipe to remove any remaining Hapé powder. You can blow through it empty to clear the airway.

- Sanitize Safely: Wipe the mouth and nose tips with a tiny amount of high-proof alcohol or natural tea tree oil. Avoid submerging wooden or bamboo pipes in water, as this can cause warping or cracking.
