Root & Wisdom Iboga retreats bring a new standard—grounded in scientific research and rooted in tradition—that goes beyond the typical retreat model. Founded by a husband-and-wife team with direct ancestral ties to Gabon, the home of Iboga, both Troy and Joaly are initiated into complementary branches of the Bwiti tradition. Joaly holds a Master’s in Counseling from NYU and is a direct descendant of Afro-Caribbean Indigenous touch healers. Troy, the primary Iboga provider, is of Gabonese descent, holds Master’s degrees in Analytical Chemistry and East-West Psychology, and is in his final year of a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. He is also a two-time initiate into the Bwiti tradition.

Dr. Tony D’Angelo, DMQ (China), Taoist Priest, is the bridge between worlds — a master of fascia-based Qigong diagnostics, Taoist internal alchemy, and Amazonian energy healing. With over four decades of experience in martial arts, Medical Qigong, and spiritual medicine, he guides students and clients through transformative pathways of energetic restoration and inner awakening.
His signature method, The Jade Hands of Restoration, teaches the art of energetic perception — using fascia palpation, Wei Qi field scanning, and emotional body mapping rooted in Taoist medicine and trauma-informed care.
